1, Observation Deck Park Eduardo VII

Located at the top of Park Eduardo and underneath the huge Portuguese flat is the Observation Deck Park Eduardo VII. It is not one of the highest viewpoint in Lisbon but with the green space and views of the river it is a superb spot.

2, Miradouro da Graça

Easily reached by the famous Tram 28, Miradouro da Graça is a must stop for a panoramic view of the castle and central Lisbon. Grab a coffee at the open air cafe and mingle with tourists and locals.

3, Jardim Do Torel

Jardim Do Torel is a bit of a secret spot in Lisbon, it is a popular location with locals. Recently renovated the space is deceptively spacious. With ample garden space, terrace area, fountains and cafe. In the month of August one of the fountains turns into a city beach, where locals head for free to sunbathe and dip in the cooling fountain.

For those heading to the garden from central Lisbon, catch the Elevador do Lavra, which is the oldest lift tram in Lisbon, alternatively you can brave the steps.

4, Miradouro da Monte Agudo

This miradouro is again a favourite with locals, as it is a little but out of the main city. This spot is chilled and full of eclectic people. Built in the 1950s the view takes in the centre and the castle.

The viewpoint is located  between Graça and Anjos and you are likely to walk straight past it if you do not know the city. With covered seating, spend a lazy aftertoon taking in the view or grab a coffee at the friendly kiosk.

5, Miradouro da Senhora do Monte

This viewpoint was a secret but it is now definitely on the tour guide and tuk tuk list. Located close to Miradouro da Graça, this viewpoint is its smaller sister. The name is “Our Lady of the Mount” in English and it has several Christian monuments. The miradouro gives a panoramic view as it is one of the highest spots in Lisbon.

6, Portas Do Sol Miradouro

No doubt you have already seen the view of Lisbon from the viewpoint Portas Do Sol, the image is probably one of the most used of Lisbon. The viewpoint is definitely a must visit. Stop and admire the view whilst taking in Portuguese Bica (expresso) at the kiosk. Recharge your batteries after a long day sightseeing.

7, Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara

Probably the 2nd most famous viewpoint in Lisbon, in our list of the 10 best viewpoints in Lisbon. Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara is at the heart of the city. Recently reopened after a year or more of renovation the space is brand new. The two teired area takes in gardens and cafes. The space provides telescope to really appreciate the view of the city of Lisbon.

8, Miradouro de Santa Catarina

A lot of controversy has surrounded the Mirador de Santa Catarina. It has always been popular with locals that gather here at sunset, to meet friends, appreciate the view and start the evening. In 2014/15 a 5 star hotel opened next door to the viewpoint that took offense to the locals gathering here. The hotel managed to get the viewpoint closed for a couple of years, with the idea that the area would become private for the its guests. Us locals did not appreciate this idea and fought passionately to keep the space open to the public, WE ONE!!

The viewpoint reopened in 2019 and has again become a chillout space popular with tourists and locals. The spot has great views of the river, with street performers and on site cafe.

9, Miradouro do Largo das Necessidades

Miradouro do Largo das Necessidades is located outside of the centre on the west side of the city. The viewpoint is never busy and is a perfect spot if you are looking to get away from the crowd. The viewpoint has amazing view of the 25th April bridge and is in front of the secret garden Jarmim das Necessidades.

10, Monsanto

Known as the lungs of Lisbon, Monstanto has numerous viewpoints of the 25th April bridge and the river. A unique place to take in the views is old deralict restaurant, but as of writing in 2020 it is closed due to Covid 19, but no worries, just walk around the stunning forest and you will find numerous secluded spots to relax and appreciate the views of Lisbon.
