The days are getting shorter and the nights are getting longer.
But what better time for you to enjoy a beautiful light show? Welcome to Cascais in light, a ruly wonderful event that takes place every year.
It is the 6th time the light festival Lumina lit up Cascais, a lovely port/beach town next to Lisbon.
Lumina is an unique event in Portugal that recreates the city’s urban space. And with shows of light and colour, multimedia projections and interactive installations.
And with artworks by national and international artists, the festival, considered by The Guardian one of the 10 best Light Festivals in Europe, highlights the historical heritage of the streets of Cascais through a walk.
The events runs for three nights during September, in 2019 the dates were September 11th to the 13th.
The streets are full of families, tourists and locals taking in the outstanding event. The event takes place all over Cascais so if you are new to the town, it is a great way to get to know it. The nights are still warm in September and the walk around the town is exciting and pleasant.
Lumina is free.
Because of this it is no excuse for you to not visit it when in or around Lisbon.
